Our Packaging Promises and Sustainable Alternatives

Today, on the 50th World Environment Day, we're inviting you to join Friendsheep in our mission to #BeatPlasticPollution. It's time to reconsider our relationship with plastic, especially the single-use variety. Single-use dryer sheets, synthetic pet toys, and numerous everyday items contribute to the global plastic crisis. Let's explore some facts.

Every year, over 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced worldwide, half of which is designed solely for single-use. A meager 9% of all the plastic produced gets recycled, and annually more than 23 million tonnes of plastic end up in our lakes, rivers, and seas. Packaging and single-use items are among the main culprits of this plastic pollution.

At Friendsheep, we're on a mission to combat this issue head-on. We proudly provide reusable, sustainable alternatives to everyday single-use items. Products like reusable eco dryer balls, toxin-free fabric fresheners, and compostable pet toys in our range are designed with the planet in mind. You'll find minimal or no packaging with our items. Sustainable, recyclable, and compostable are not just buzzwords at Friendsheep - they're the principles guiding every decision we make.

But we're not stopping at product design. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our packaging as well. And on that note, we'd like to share with you the Four Packaging Promises that we make to each and every one of our customers:

1. Zero Plastic

We believe there's no sustainable way to produce or dispose of plastic, so you will never find plastic in our packaging.

2. Eco-Friendly Boxes

All of our boxes and mailers are made from 100% post-consumer, 100% recyclable, and 100% compostable materials.

3. Handmade with Love

Our hand-sewn, hand-printed, unbleached organic cotton bags are perfect for storing eco dryer balls, and can be repurposed as grocery bags. Additionally, some products may come wrapped in handmade lokta paper bags. Lokta paper is wild crafted in rural villages, made from Nepalese laurel bush it is known to be the most eco-friendly paper in the world.

4. Carbon-Offset Shipping and Giving Back to Earth

Through our partnership with CarbonFund.org we offset 100% of the carbon emissions from your delivery, as well as every shipment throughout our supply chain. For every item purchased, we plant one tree towards permanent reforestation together with edenprojects.org. We are proud 1% For The Planet members, plus we donate 20% of all proceeds to animal rescues, children's hospitals, and environmental non-profits protecting our oceans and wildlife.

From Rescue to Companion: Valeria and Her Service Dog Pongo

At Friendsheep, we are dedicated to supporting rescue organizations that save dogs from the shelter system, where many animals end up due to irresponsible breeding and lack of education among pet owners. Pongo, a black Labrador, is one such dog who began life loved but quickly found himself in unimaginable circumstances. After years of neglect and abuse, he was saved from euthanasia by West Coast Labrador Retriever Rescue (WCLRR). Despite being seen as “damaged,” Pongo was adopted by Friendsheep founder Valeria Isaacs and her family. With love, training, and patience, Pongo transformed from a traumatized rescue into a brilliant service dog, proving that adoption can change lives. His story is a testament to the importance of giving rescue animals a second chance. Adopt, don’t shop.
