I had never used dryer balls before and seeing an add for these little cuties made me do some research to prove/disprove the whole idea of using dryer balls instead of the dryer sheets I have used for decades. Bottom line is this: Yes, these balls do work, wool is the kind to get, and these specific wool balls are top-notch in the array of ball options out there. Plus, they are far the nicest looking! I did have static issues when I first started using them, though, but further research taught me that I was over-drying my clothes and when I adjusted my drying cycle settings, the static issue cleared up. I am so glad to be able to ditch my overly-perfumed and expensive dryer sheets.
